We are on CHRISTMAS break and will not return to the classroom until January 3, 2011.
As we approach the end of 2010, I wanted to take a few minutes and reflect on the year. This has been an interesting year for changes in my school district. We are seeing positive and negative effects from NCLB mandates. Positive effects include a new teacher evaluation instrument that really focuses on teacher improvement; using WISE (Ways to Improve School Effectiveness (This is what school improvement should have been about all along and its a free resource!).
I started on my Master's Degree (one reason my blogging has not been up-to-date), I really worked on differentiation in the classroom. I am on the Math Curriculum writing team and the Teacher Advisory Committee to the superintendent. I am also the team leader for 4th and 5th grade and the treasurer for our school's Student Activity Fund.
WOW! When I write it all down, I am stretched thin. New Years Resolution: Start saying NO!
